What is Soc 2 Type 1 Certification?
A SOC 2 Type 1 Certification (System and Organization Controls Report) is awarded after a third party performs a thorough audit of a company’s security practices. Their evaluation is based on the five Trust Services Criteria of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants:
Security — Information is protected from unauthorized access and other vulnerabilities
Availability — Services have consistent uptime and are available for clients to access
Processing integrity — Systems operate as they are intended to
Confidentiality — Confidential information is protected by limiting access, use, and storage
Privacy — Personal information is safeguarded against access by unauthorized users
During our audit, independent evaluators examined our company processes, training, employee codes of conduct, equipment maintenance, system backups, business continuity plans, and incident response plans. The result is a thorough picture of a company’s security practices, delivered in a format that is easy to evaluate.
